Scarlett Johansson’s blunt response on whether she wears underwear: I’ll leave it to your imagination
One of the most powerful movements in the film industry is #MeToo. This has marked a before and after in the history of the big screen and the treatment of women, but there is still a long way to go.
This movement has not only helped all performers when shooting a movie, but it has also helped actresses to avoid having to answer sexist questions.
One of the clear examples of this is actress Scarlett Johansson. The famous performer has had to put up with many situations of this kind and it comes to mind when in 2012, presenting ‘The Avengers’, something unusual happened to her.
In an interview, a journalist named Jerry Penacoli asked the actress if she was wearing underwear under her costume, something that Johansson didn’t like at all.
“You’re the fifth person to ask me this today. I’ll leave it to your imagination. Whatever you think I should be wearing or not wearing underneath that suit”.
But the reality is that this is not the only time Johansson has complained about such questions. Another time, during another ‘Avengers: Infinity War’ promo, she was asked to talk about her character’s costume change in the film: “Do I really get to talk about fashion? I honestly don’t know how to answer that question”.
The actress also complained about such questions on actor Daz Shepord’s podcast: “A lot of times I’ve felt like an object. I was typecast in a way where I felt like I wasn’t getting offers of work,” she said.
