Margot Robbie Wore a Gown with a See-Through Corset to the Met Gala
Margot Robbie’s Met Gala look is all about the finer details.
The Barbie actress and Chanel ambassador arrived on the carpeted steps of the Met in a recreation of a black one-shouldered gown from the house’s spring 1993 Haute Couture collection. The flowing piece features a sweetheart neckline and a dramatic sash that extends over the shoulder and trails down the front, as well as a see-through corset midsection with boning made of the house’s signature gold chain-woven straps.
The star accessorized the piece sparingly, adding a pair of square gold drop earrings and two delicate rings. She also wore a natural glam look with her blonde locks in a classic, glamorous blowout.
The Babylon actress honored the “exceptional” Lagerfeld in her red carpet interview, where she noted that she was the last Chanel ambassador chosen by the designer.
Robbie last attended the lavish event in 2016, looking radiant white strapless gown by Calvin Klein. The minimalist custom piece was partly backless with a large cutout that wrapped around to the sides, and her accessories included two gold Elsa Peretti Bone cuff bracelets by Tiffany & Co.
This year, Robbie will star in the highly-anticipated live-action Barbie film, which took over social media last month with the release of the first full trailer showing the actress as the original iteration of the titular doll. Last week, Robbie and her Ken, Ryan Gosling, channeled their characters during appearance at Las Vegas’s CinemaCon, walking the carpet in coordinating pink looks.
Robbie wore a bubblegum pink and white gingham Prada set, comprised of a wrap miniskirt and a bralette with scalloped black trim across the bust. She accessorized the outfit with baby pink pee-toe heels from Christian Louboutin, a gold Chanel anklet, and drop earrings. She was also photographed outside of the venue in an added long coat with the matching gingham pattern, plus a mini pink Prada purse and a pair of black oval sunglasses.
