The terrible advice Kristen Stewart received to make it in Hollywood: If you do yourself a favor…
The actress revealed what happened during one of her meetings with industry insiders
To get far in an industry as complicated as Hollywood, you have to make sacrifices. There are many performers who have revealed over the decades the incredible obstacles they have had to overcome and accept in order to succeed. However, Kristen Stewart’s statement goes a step further and involves a controversy related to sexuality.
Her statements, which date back to 2019, took place during an interview for Harper’s Bazaar. In it, she told what they asked her to be eligible for major film roles: “They were very clear: ‘If you do yourself a favor and don’t hold hands with your girlfriend in public, maybe you’ll get a role in a Marvel movie.”
The 33-year-old also added that she never wanted to work “with people like that” again. All this despite the fact that she was already at that time one of the most important personalities in Hollywood and had just released ‘Charlie’s Angels’ and had ‘Seberg’ pending.
“You want to protect your success and your productivity, and there are people in the world who don’t like you, and who don’t like you seeing you with girls, and who also don’t like you not identifying as, quote-unquote, ‘lesbian,’ but also not as, quote-unquote, ‘straight,’” she said in statements reported by The Guardian.
Over time, Stewart has freely shown her sexual identity and, in fact, is one of the icons of the LGBT collective, thus demonstrating that she did not follow Hollywood’s advice to continue at the top of the industry. “I think we’re getting to a place where, I don’t know, evolution is a weird thing, we’re all becoming incredibly ambiguous. And it’s a really wonderful thing,” he settled.
