Ana de Armas is right: Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman should not be recast

Ana de Armas is a popular choice for newcomers to Wonder Woman , but Ghost stars would rather see Gal Gadot continue to play the iconic role. The next movie, Flash , will change the DCEU timeline and give certain characters (like Superman and Batman) a fresh start, while others (like Amanda Waller) will remain largely unchanged from their DCEU incarnations. Unfortunately, the future of Gal Gadot’s iteration of Wonder Woman is uncertain at the moment, but Ana de Armas is right that Gadot should continue as Wonder Woman in the new DC Universe.
In her autocomplete interview with WIRED Ghost co-star Chris Evans, Ana de Armas asked if she’s taking over the Wonder Woman role, she replied: “Well, I think Gal Gadot is doing a great job. So, you know, I think he should continue to do that.”
Not like her Justice League Gal Gadot, who co-stars with Ben Affleck and Henry Cavill, has never left (or given up on) her superhero role and remains eager to continue playing Wonder Woman. Given Gal Gadot’s explicit portrayal of superheroes in the older DCEU, Ana de Armas, like many viewers, is right in thinking that Gadot should keep the role of her, even if her fellow heroes are revamped.
Gal Gadot should become the DCU Wonder WomanGal Gadot’s Wonder Woman has had a profound impact on pop culture, Wonder Woman DC’s A-list film franchise and offers a comically accurate portrayal of one of DC’s most famous heroes. Despite Wonder Woman 3 after get cancelled, there’s no reason to reprise Wonder Woman, as Gal Gadot is still itching to continue playing her, and her version of the heroine remains a major icon. Superman and Batman will likely always be replaced later on in Flash and if the DCEU characters like Aquaman and Amanda Waller can coexist with their newer versions, so should Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman.
Who could Ana de Armas play in the DC Universe?
Ana de Armas is right to say that Gal Gadot should keep Wonder Woman in the rebooted DC universe, but she can still fill many roles, both in the DCU and in the Wonder Woman franchise. Currently, the only upcoming Wonder Woman attributes in the DCU are Paradise Lost , a prequel set in Themyscira before Diana Prince was born. Wonder Woman herself is unlikely, but Ana de Armas could play a younger Hippolyta or Antiope. However, one of the roles with the most potential for her is modern DCU character Donna Troy.
Donna Troy has a long and complicated history in several major DC timelines, but in most iterations, she was Diana Prince’s sister in some capacity. Given the popularity of Ana de Armas’ potential role as Wonder Woman, Donna Troy would cast her in a similar role, especially as an older, established heroine, perhaps directing a new addition to the Teen Titans. There’s plenty of room for Ana de Armas in the new DC Universe, but you are right that Gal Gadot should stay in the DC Universe. Wonder Woman Role.
